To train volunteers to care for urban orchards EarthWorks has offered classes covering specific horticultural topics, as well as courses of six to twelve sessions that explore all of the steps necessary to create and maintain a healthy urban orchard. Below are all the important and relevant materials from our horticultural training manual, which was developed by Alana Dudley and edited by Bill Taylor.
The manual contains information collected from a variety of sources and is designed to help anyone start and maintain an urban orchard, no matter how big or small. The chapters are divided by topic and ordered so that you can easily refer to them as you develop your orchard. Some of the information in the articles may contain specific details that are more relevant to the New England area, but we have made every effort to include information about other climates as well. For any additional location-specific information, consult the Resources & References section, where you will find other nationwide horticultural information.
