A Successful PlantingVOLUNTEER

EarthWorks and JP Trees need help conducting site evaluations and conducting public outreach year round. We also need volunteers to help with plantings from March-October.

If you are interested in volunteering to assist with any of these tasks, please contact Gretchen at Earthworks:
617-442-1059 gretchen@earthworksboston.org

Volunteering with the Setback Tree Project could include any of the following activities:

Site Evaluation
– Working with the Project Coordinator to learn how to assess sites to see whether or not they are suitable for plantings; assessing site conditions in Jamaica Plain and Roxbury to help determine the tree species that could be planted there; completing simple site evaluation forms.

Public Outreach
– Getting the word out to residents, community groups, churches, schools, and businesses by distributing and posting flyers, assisting with mailings, and using word of mouth. This is currently our largest area of need for volunteer assistance.

Tree Planting
– EarthWorks will provide training on how to plant trees. Trained volunteers work directly with participating residents and property owners to plant trees on their property.
